Cats are wonderful animal companions. Their gentle and nimble movements add to their simple grace and elegance. They can be comforting and thoughtful due to their heightened sensitivity to emotions. They can elevate one’s mood and even contribute to boosting a person’s morale. Their cute and cuddly features can comfort and uplift a drooping soul.
As much as they are wonderful companions, they, too, can get sick, just like us. From most of the threats to their well-being, we can safeguard our cat’s health through proper care and loving attention.
We can also offer prayers for our sick feline companions to aid in their recovery. Presenting our prayer for a sick cat before God is the simplest deed that we can do. We ask God to hasten the recovery of our cats so that they may regain their strength. Let us allow time and God’s healing grace to course through our pet cats. May the will of our cats to survive be stronger than the burden of the sickness that they are experiencing. Saint Gertrude of Nivelles, known for your exemplary piety and faithfulness towards God’s love, may you look with mercy and compassion upon my sick cat. You dedicated your time to serving the poor, tending to the sick, and accompanying the elderly. Your altruistic example of charity towards them made you their shining ray of hope amidst the adversities they faced. Cats are such gentle and noble creatures. Their simple elegance and serene energy make them easy to love and care for. Owning a cat does not only provide companionship and emotional benefits but also has medical advantages which affect our physical and mental health. Being stewards of God’s creation, we should provide our feline companions with the care and attention that they richly deserve.
Our simple deed of caring for our unwell cat is our participation in caring for God’s wonderful creation. We also safeguard life and value it as a gift from God. We unknowingly continue to glorify God as we value this precious gift of life. Tending to their needs may be burdensome and tiring, but may we never despair in nursing our beloved pets back to full health.
May we always remember that every simple deed offered with great love can cause a ripple effect that can inspire others to do the same. Charley is only 11 and I rescued him when he was five. In those six years I am grateful for all of our adventures from Europe, to all over the States and Puerto Rico. He just went into renal failure and is in the hospital for treatment. He seems strong and has the will to live. I know it will be a lot of work to take care of his kidney disease but I know he has more good years to be had and I am willing to do what it takes to heal my friend. One has been found and two are in her barn.
