Thanksgiving prayer

God, in His infinite goodness, generosity, and love, has given us blessings beyond our human comprehension. He has created everything and guided its course. He has given us dignity as His image and likeness (cf. Genesis 1:27) and made us stewards of all His creation.

Even in our sinfulness, God still showed His love and compassion. In the miserable state of humanity stricken by the plague of sin and death, He sent His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, to redeem us. The Lord reinstated our relationship with the Father through His ultimate sacrifice on the cross. After Christ’s ascension to heaven, He never left us orphans. Instead, the Holy Spirit was sent as our companion and advocate.

As we see throughout the course of human history, God has not forgotten His promise of companionship and guidance. He continues to bless us with all the necessary graces we need. As our response to God’s immeasurable goodness and love, we must offer Him our humble and sincere gratitude.

Prayer of thanksgiving

Lord God of heaven and earth, You have created all things and made them beautiful. From the very beginning, You have manifested Your goodness and kindness. You have no impartiality for the love and care You give. We praise and bless Your wondrous love for all!

O God, we come to You today with hearts full of humility and gratitude. We are not worthy of all the things we have received from You. Yet You are our God whose generosity is not dependent on the merits of our actions. You love us simply because of love and not of our own worthiness. We praise You for such love and kindness.

We acknowledge that all the good gifts we have received come from Your generous hand. We are most grateful for Your loving compassion and kindness.

Lord, we thank You for Your creation. Through it, we reflect the beauty and magnificence of Your creative power. We thank You because through Your design, our basic needs are met. So may we become responsible and accountable stewards of Your creation.

We thank You for the food on our table, our health, the clothes we wear, the roof over our heads, and all the necessary needs we have. We are reminded by these things that You are our God who provides.

We thank You for all the people in our lives. They bring us comfort, friendship, and joy. Bless them abundantly all the days of their life.

We thank You for Your protection, wisdom, and guidance in our everyday life. Thank You for not abandoning us in all that we do.

Lord, we also thank You for all the challenges and difficulties we have encountered. We know that bad things are not from You. But You allow them because You know we can conquer them. Your grace and power are more than enough to encourage and strengthen us in all these challenges. Thank You, Lord, for these challenges help us grow in character and strength.

Father, we fully trust in Your divine plan for our lives. We are assured that You are always with us and never abandon us in the ups and downs of life. We know that all these things are working for our own good.

We humbly ask for Your continued blessings and favor upon us. May Your peace and grace be upon all of us. May we become a reflection of Your love and kindness to others. In all things, may we always give thanks.

Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Further reflection

Giving thanks to God is very important. As His beloved creation, our gratitude to Him and His boundless goodness reminds us of our dependence on His power and providence. We are taught to be humble before God in recognizing our dependence on Him.

At the same time, recognizing God’s goodness teaches us the value of stewardship. All that we have are God’s manifestation of His grace. As a response, we ought to take good care of these things. We should not abuse or misuse them.

Moreover, being grateful to God can strengthen our bonds with Him and advance our spiritual development. By expressing our thanks to God, we invite Him into our life and permit Him to do more incredible and profound things. Through gratitude, we let God be God in our life.
