Prayer for comfort and strength after a miscarriage

Father, source of all that is good, we praise and thank You for the gift of life You have bestowed on us. You created us out of Your overflowing love. We thank You for sharing with us the privilege of becoming a sharer of Your creative power.

Lord God, we come to You today with grief and sorrow after experiencing the loss of our precious little one. We thank You for the time we were able to carry our child and for the love we shared, even if it was for a short time.

In this trying moment, we humbly seek Your comfort. We beseech You to embrace us in Your loving arms and to give us the strength to bear the suffering and anguish we are experiencing. Help us to have faith and trust in Your plan and in the fact that our beloved child is in Your tender care.

As we pass through this grieving process, Lord, we humbly ask for Your courage. Even when it seems like the weight of the world is on our shoulders, please give us the strength to face each day and carry on. We ask for the strength to carry on and the ability to enjoy the moments of life that are yet ahead of us.

As we work to understand this loss, we humbly seek Your healing. We humbly ask that You heal our wounds and give us hope for the future. Please help us remember our child and find solace in the love and support of those close to us.

Lord, we put our faith in Your goodness and mercy. We are confident that You will never leave us, even at the most trying times of our lives. May we find comfort in your arms and peace in Your unfailing fidelity to Your promises.

We ask all these through Your Son and our Savior, Jesus Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer to Saint Catherine of Siena for those who have suffered a miscarriage

Saint Catherine of Siena, you spent a lot of time and energy caring for others who endured the suffering of miscarriages or illnesses during their pregnancies, both physically and emotionally. You prayed reverently for their healing and for the lost child’s soul to find peace.

I lost my beloved child, and now my heart is overflowing with sorrow and despair. I beg your prayers and petitions that God would comfort and fortify me during this trying time. I ask for your prayers so that I may find comfort in knowing that my child is in the loving custody of our Lord and that one day, we will be reunited in Paradise.

Please ask the Lord to give me the strength to face each day and to carry on with hope and faith. Help me to have faith in God’s purpose for my life and to recognize that He is by my side at all times, even when things seem the darkest.

On behalf of those who have also lost a child before they were born, we humbly pray for your intercession. We beseech you, Saint Catherine of Siena, who has endured so many hardships in life, who has seen the depths of despair while never losing hope, to lead and console those who are going through the anguish of miscarriage. Encourage all of us to lean on our faith and put our faith in God’s benevolent purpose for our lives.

Saint Catherine of Siena, pray for us. Amen.

Further reflection

Life is an incredible and beautiful gift that God has given us. It is a treasure that has to be valued and enjoyed constantly. We feel thankful and in awe, at the marvel of creation all around us as we consider the beauty of life. From the smallest organism to the immensity of the universe, life’s beauty may be seen in all facets of existence.

A harrowing and traumatic experience, miscarriage can leave us feeling confused, isolated, and uncertain about the future. It can be simple to withdraw and cut ourselves off from the outside world while we are grieving. But during these times of despair, prayer can be a strong source of solace, encouragement, and restoration. In addition, grief counseling can be a help to those suffering such a significant loss.

Prayer serves as a reminder that even at the depths of our despair, God is present. It serves as a reminder that we are never truly alone and that the One who created us is aware of and sympathetic to our suffering. Prayer lets us know that God is in control of our lives and that His compassion and mercy are always there, even when we cannot perceive them.
