While humanity’s way of life continues to improve because of modern technologies and continuous research, the same cannot be said for nature. In the name of research and new inventions, people are taking more and more resources from the environment. It’s easy to take but difficult to replenish. This can be said of the thousands of trees that are being cut down for industrial purposes and to make way for agriculture, which will provide food and resources for the rapidly growing human population. Furthermore, generations of improper or inadequate waste disposal have resulted in global warming, which now poses a serious threat that affects not only us but also habitats, animals, and vegetation all over the world.
These things are alarming, but hope remains, take a few minutes each day to offer this prayer for nature and be prepared to apply new promises of healthier, greener choices into our lives so that we will be inspired to take action not only for ourselves but for others too.
Environmental prayer
Divine Creator,
I come before You in humility and praise, humbled before Your mighty throne. Through this environmental prayer, I ask for forgiveness for the countless sins I have committed against Your will and for the times when I tried to hide my shame from Your all-seeing eyes.
Thank You for the trees, who remind me that under Your holy light, I can grow to be more than I thought I could. Thank You for the delicate flowers who withstand heavy storms, a reminder of Your commitment and care for me and Your creations. Thank You for the seas and oceans, mighty but so full of life, a testament to the synergy of Your power and grace. Thank You for the birds that wake me in the morning and the fireflies that light up the night. Thank You for the wonders of nature, from the towering mountains to the thundering falls, from the grand canyons to the steep cliffs. You never fail to amaze me with this wonderfully precious world we all call home.
I seek Your protection over all the earth: may it continue to teem with life and nature. May You guard over every living thing that walks or grows upon the earth. May You preserve the life and beauty that You have masterfully and lovingly created. I hope that You will grant humanity the strength, wisdom, and compassion to be stewards of nature and guardians of the environment. As we continue to rise in advancements, I pray that we will not compromise the beauty of our home and that we will not disrupt the beautifully complex ecosystems that support nature.
This is my earnest prayer for nature that I lovingly offer to You, Lord Jesus. Amen.

Intercessory prayer to Saint Francis of Assisi
Saint Francis of Assisi, I humbly come before your presence with a fearful heart as I watch the once beautiful world around me deteriorate into environmental sickness because of the greed and carelessness of man.
Take my hand and guide me to the Lord’s presence as I ask for forgiveness for the sins I committed. I feel deep remorse for ignorantly destroying God’s creations, failing to see how even small, repetitive habits can compound into a devastating impact on my natural surroundings. Through you, I pray that He will change my heart and my mindset and use me as an instrument to save the planet, starting with myself.
With this humble healing prayer for the environment, may He guide me as I unlearn bad habits and re-learn eco-friendly ones. May He guide me as I teach my loved ones to care more for the environment, not only through words but through actions as well. May He turn each of us into dedicated advocates of earth’s preservation and protection and touch our hearts with compassion so that we may care for the earth, our only home. Help me offer this prayer for global warming not just for myself but also for the scientists and researchers who tirelessly work to develop environmentally-friendly products like biodegradable plastics, renewable energy sources, cleaning mechanisms, and more. I also pray for climate activists and environmental advocates who use their voices and knowledge to educate others about how eco-friendly habits can greatly improve our planet and what happens if we continue to turn a blind eye to environmental issues. May the Lord God bless them with a renewed heart as they continue to fight for nature.
Lastly, I pray that the good God will gently remind us that we need to take care of our home on Earth before it’s too late. Saint Francis, pray for our planet, our biodiversity, and all of humanity. Amen.
Further reflection
God appointed man to care for His creations, so it’s ironic how we are now destroying the natural wonders of the world, causing one extinction at a time.
But the good news is, it’s not too late to save the planet by choosing greener options. Make a habit out of simple things like bringing a reusable shopping bag instead of using plastic bags for shopping, walking whenever possible (instead of using the car), volunteering or donating to environment-driven initiatives, reducing our waste, growing our own vegetables, conserving water, paper, and electricity, and more.
May this heartfelt prayer inspire us to be more mindful of how our choices affect the Earth and to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle.
