As each sunrise signifies another day of work, it can be hard for everyone—not least husbands and dads—to say goodbye to their families before they set off to do the day’s tasks. Furthermore, not everyone is a morning person, and some mornings seem harder than others. If we see that our hardworking husbands are drained of energy, lacking motivation, or just need a little more love, talk to the Lord through this good morning prayer for him.
A prayer for my husband
Eternal King in Heaven,
I come before You with praises and singing, for You have been my unfailing Father and Redeemer. Thank You for showering me with the most precious gifts…even when I do not always appreciate them.
Forgive my husband and me for our shortcomings and sins. The sins we have committed against each other are sins committed against You. Wipe away any trace of malice, greed, jealousy, and distrust in our hearts, for they do nothing but drive us apart. As husband and wife joined into one heart, we pray for Your forgiveness and guidance in our marriage and personal lives. Help us make the right choices together, even when it is a hard choice.
We thank You for Your continued provision and protection; for keeping us away from all harm and ill health. No words of thanksgiving can ever be enough to express my gratitude for the precious blessing of having a loving, caring, hardworking, and faithful husband who will go to great lengths just to ensure that our family’s needs are met. Thank You for filling our hearts with love and our lives with joy despite many adversities. I am beyond blessed and grateful to have a partner like him through life’s ups and downs.
Bless our union with loyalty and faithfulness; may it stand the test of time and weather through all the storms of life that come our way. In our marriage, we’ve had our fair share of arguments, misunderstandings, disagreements, and all sorts of worries and problems. Yet despite it all, we’re still here, growing strong and loving each other more and more each day. We place You and Your Word at the center of our marriage, for You are the foundation that unites us and strengthens our bond as wives and husbands. May we raise our family under Your holy commandments and raise our children to be strong and faithful followers of Jesus.
As the sun rises in the east, may You fill him with gladness and motivation for his daily labors. May He find joy in his experiences and find comfort in the presence of his family and friends and never lose the passion he has for his career. May all his honest work be rewarded not only on Earth but also in Heaven.
Yours is the glory and honor forevermore.
Amen.
Short morning prayer for my husband

Dear God, hear this prayer for my husband, whom I love with every fiber of my being. May he go about his day with a grateful heart and a focused mind. Give him the strength to accomplish the day’s work and guide him in all that he does. Fill him with hope and grant him the happiness he so richly deserves. As You dwell in our hearts, may our days be filled with the joy of life. Amen.
The Word of God
Let me hear of your steadfast love in the morning, for in you I put my trust. Teach me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.
Psalm 143:8 NRSVUE
My heart is steadfast, O God; my heart is steadfast. I will sing and make melody. Awake, my soul! Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awake the dawn. I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. For your steadfast love is as high as the heavens; your faithfulness extends to the clouds.
Psalm 57:7-10 NRSVUE
Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all day long.
Psalm 25:5 NRSVUE
But I will sing of your might; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been a fortress for me and a refuge in the day of my distress.
Psalm 59:16 NRSVUE
Intercessory prayer to Saint Joseph
Blessed Saint Joseph,
Our days together on this Earth are numbered, but we spend each second of our lives glorifying our Heavenly Father, who watches over us from above. We feel His presence and guidance in our marriage, and we promise to incorporate His Word and His commandments into our family.
Saint Joseph, my husband has done his best to provide for his family and keep us safe, just like you did. He works tirelessly and puts our needs and wants before his own, oftentimes sacrificing his happiness just to ensure our own. May you carry my praises of thanksgiving to the Almighty Lord, who gave me not just a husband but a soulmate who stays with me through life’s hardships and trials.
With this good morning prayer for him, I pray that he will find joy and beauty in everything. May he draw strength from the smiles of his loved ones and find fulfillment in his hard but honest work.
I pray for myself, too—may I be a good wife to him, always considering his well-being instead of just my own. Help me to listen to his side of each story and to make choices that will benefit both of us in the long run.
Watch over our family and guard my husband as he sets off for work. Bestow inspiration and passion upon his soul and help him stay focused even when things become chaotic and stressful. Thank You for giving us all another day to cherish. Each sunrise is a testament to God’s unfailing love and provision for our family.
Saint Joseph, pray for us. Amen.
Further reflection
Love comes in all forms, and each of us has a “love language”—our own ideal way to communicate love to and accept love from others. For some, it’s through sweet, caring messages, while for others, it comes in the form of thoughtful gifts and hearty meals or through reassuring words and loving touches or by quietly performing little tasks to lighten the burdens of the day. Learning each other’s love language and learning how to express it to each other can go a long way in brightening everyone’s moods. Marriage is a continuous process of discovering things about each other and learning the best ways through which we can navigate life’s challenges hand in hand.
The Lord is watching: be it in times of disagreement, abundance, joy, or trouble. Putting Him at the center of our union makes sure that He will guide both of us through every phase of life. Have comfort in the thought that He will never cease to protect our husbands and keep them away from harm, especially when we are not around to help him. With a marriage rooted in love for the Lord and for each other, may we draw strength, wisdom, and inspiration from each other each morning and come home to rest in each other’s embrace.
