Prayer for future husband

To love and to be loved in return might be the greatest experience one can ever have. Imagine being loved by the person we love more than anything! Butterflies everywhere. The world stands still. Everything moves so slowly.

But to be married in the future requires a lot of preparation, prayer, and discernment. Sometimes, even waiting for a future partner can be difficult and frustrating. There are times that it may seem we will never find our own “the one”.

However, waiting for our future husbands can help us become better people. It takes a lot of patience and trust. At times, it can make us feel as if nothing is happening in our love story. But rest assured that it is God who is the author of our love story – and yes, He writes the best one for us. This prayer for a future husband will help us reflect on the importance of being patient in waiting for our future husbands and trusting God during this season of waiting.

Prayer for future husband

God our Father, You have created us out of Your overflowing love. You have shared with us the beauty of love. You have shown what genuine love means through the example and sacrifice of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and our Lord. Thank You for giving us the gift of loving and being loved.

I thank You, Father, for the privilege of being single. I am learning a lot through my experiences and realizations. I am enjoying my own company. And I know I still have a lot to learn along this journey.

Father, if it is Your holy will, someday I will be married to someone whom You also love so much. I pray that the man You are preparing for me has an intimate relationship with You. By loving You, I am confident that he knows what genuine love is. Fill his heart with sincerity, humility, and compassion. I pray that Your love inspires him to love others as well.

I pray that he also prays for me. I ask You to help him with his struggles and challenges. Strengthen him with Your grace. I pray that he is understanding, caring, and affectionate. I pray that he, too, has a deep love for me as much as You have.

Father, I trust in Your divine timing and most perfect will. I wish to be married to this person that You are preparing for me. But I am not in any way rushing things. When it is Your will, I know it will be perfect and best. May I patiently wait for this blessing because I know, O God, that You will fulfill Your plans at the right time.

As I am growing in love and faith during this season of waiting, help me to become more discerning. Prepare my heart to love and be faithful in my future married life. Into Your hands, I fully entrust the timing of my future relationship. Teach and guide me on how I can best work on myself and the things I must develop.

Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Most loving God, thank You for the unconditional and selfless love You have shown us. May I experience this kind of love through the man You have prepared for me. I pray that the love You have for him may be the same love that will bind and sustain us in our future marriage. Bless and always protect him in Your unending love. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

The Word of God

Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable; it keeps no record of wrongs; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NRSVUE

Prayer to Saint Joseph for a future husband

Dear Saint Joseph, loving husband of the Blessed Virgin, I come to you seeking your help and intercession. You are the most admirable example of what a husband should be. I approach you now and pray for my future husband.

Whoever he is, wherever he is now, and no matter how long I will be waiting for him, I pray that you guide him. I sincerely hope that he loves God so much. I pray that he is also praying for me, my well-being, and my spiritual growth. Preserve him from all harm. Inspire him to be a loving husband.

Saint Joseph, most loving spouse of Mary, pray for me that I may not desire a husband out of hurrying. Help me also to prepare myself to enter the sublime vocation of married life. May I trust God even more as I wait for the joyful meeting of my future husband.

Be his guide, dear Saint Joseph, and help him discern in all the things he does. May you present yourself to him as an example and model of a faithful and God-centered marriage. May you be his mentor and father who guides and loves him.

Pray for him that he may be blessed with wisdom and fortitude. Please keep him safe and healthy. Help him to unceasingly work on himself emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. May we meet each other at a time that is best for us both. I may not know who my future husband will be, but I trust in God’s will and through your gracious prayers and intercession.

Beloved Saint Joseph, faithful and loving husband of Mary, pray for us always. Amen.

Further reflection

Getting married is indeed a great privilege from God. It is a way of sharing and participating in the love and creative power of God. But getting married is not a competition or race. It is a gift, and so we must be prepared to receive this gift.

While we are in our waiting season, we can continue to improve ourselves. Focus on developing the areas of our lives that will eventually help us in our future marriages. Develop a more intimate relationship with God. In this way, we can easily extend the love we have for God to our future husbands.

As we think, wait, and search for love, pray to God that our thinking, waiting, and searching for what love is, be founded in Christ, who has loved us so much. Pray that we may not be misled by impure intentions and overly Hollywood ideas about love. May the love of God be the true foundation of our future marriages.
