Honesty, integrity, and truthfulness are highly-coveted values. There are very few people these days who don’t easily lie or cover up their mistakes because of fear or a desire to shine better than others. There is great honor in incorporating these values into our daily life, and by doing this, we are already glorifying the Lord by setting a righteous example for others to follow.
With a prayer for honesty, we can have a short but genuine conversation with God about how we want to be more honest and to train ourselves not to spill lies so automatically. May this prayer aid us in our journey toward spiritual growth and personal development.
Prayer for honesty
Prayer to be honest at school
Dearest Jesus,
Be with me as I set off for school today. I pray that You will guide me as I learn new things. Help me follow all the school rules and regulations honestly and truthfully. May my academic progress be a stellar product of my own hard work and effort, not of dishonesty and cheating. May my interactions with my classmates be genuine and kind.
Amen.
Prayer for truth and honesty at work
My Lord, my Savior,
A new morning marks another day at work, and I pray that it will be full of new insights and experiences. Help me uphold honesty and truthfulness in my job. Give me the strength and courage to take responsibility for my actions, even if owning up to them can be a difficult choice. I know that my own fear of failure and hunger for success can tempt me to cheat my way up the ladder of my career, but I pray that You will shield me from those evil thoughts and help me focus on the rocky but righteous path. I also pray for my coworkers and supervisors. May they uphold integrity and truthfulness in their work. May our workspace be one where honest and diligent work is fostered and rewarded. After all, it matters not how fast our progress is but how true.
Amen.
Prayer for truthfulness in business
Our Omnipresent and All-Seeing God,
Thank You for blessing me with a business borne out of my own ideas, courage, and hard work. I pray not just for guidance but also for accountability when it comes to my business venture. The journey to a successful business is long and winding, and I will pass through many challenges before I achieve my goals, but under Your guidance, I am undaunted.
Amen.
Honesty prayer for lawyers
Omniscient Father,
As You sit upon Your judgment seat, I praise Your Name, for You rule the earth and heavens with unmatched justice and fairness, promoting honesty to Your humble subjects. Light my path as I uncover the truth and fight against crimes and injustices. Help me choose what is moral and what is right in this world full of corruption, lies, and greed. As a lawyer, there are many evils that threaten to throw me off the path of truth in exchange for illusions of success and power, but I pray that You will shield me from them and help me focus on what matters most: honesty and integrity in whatever I do.
I rest upon Your grace, mercy, and eternal power.
Amen.
Prayer for truth and honesty in a relationship
All-seeing Father,
A strong relationship is built on trust from both sides. I pray that both of us will speak freely to each other about our worries, our life goals, and even our failings to You and to each other. It can be difficult to bare our true selves to each other, but I know that this mutual vulnerability is a necessary ingredient when building a solid love that lasts all trials. May our bond be strengthened further by doubtless transparency and honest truths.
May the glory of Your love and the truth of Your Word be ever-present at the center of our life as a couple.
Amen.
Short prayer for social media

Heavenly Father,
There is no greater gift than to have Your presence in my life and to feel Your guiding hand in whatever path I choose. Help me uphold honesty in my life no matter what circumstances I encounter. I know that choosing to do the right thing can be the more difficult choice, but I will stand by Your will and Your laws.
Amen.
The Word of God
For we are setting our minds on what is right not only before the Lord but also before the people.
2 Corinthians 8:21 NRSVUE
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by him, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly explaining the word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:15 NRSVUE
If any think they are religious and do not bridle their tongues but deceive their hearts, their religion is worthless.
James 1:26 NRSVUE
The integrity of the upright guides them,
but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them.

Intercessory prayer to Saint Gemma Galgani
Blessed Saint Gemma,
I beg You to call upon the Lord and plead with Him to wash away my sins and cleanse my sin-stained soul. My imperfections are stark against the purity of the Holy Spirit within me, but I know that as long as I breathe, it is never too late to ask Him for forgiveness and repentance.
May He hear my prayers of thanksgiving and gladness for the countless blessings in my life, like having a wonderful family and loyal friends, which make me feel blessed beyond measure. Even the small details, like smelling my favorite scent or petting an enthusiastically happy dog, I truly appreciate and treasure.
With this prayer for truthfulness, I ask for Your guidance, for you are the patron saint of those who seek shelter from sinful temptations. Turn me away from acts of dishonesty and unfairness and lead me toward the virtuous ways that God has set before me. Let no falsehood fall from my mouth, and no wrongful deed move my hands. Inspire me to uphold truth and integrity in my daily life, from the most mundane of tasks to the big actions involving others.
I also pray for my fellow sinners, for those who lie and cheat and step on others just to get what they want. I pray that you will redirect their paths away from sin and toward the Lord. Teach them how to set aside their wrongful habits and guide them as they navigate life with honesty and fairness, no matter how dire the situation is.
Saint Gemma, pray for all of us. Amen.
Further reflection
How often do we lie in a given week? How often do we try to cover up our mistakes? Sometimes, dishonesty can be learned from an early age. A child lies for fear of being scolded. A teenager lies for fear of being punished. An employee lies for fear of being fired. A businessman lies for fear of being unsuccessful or losing money. Lies have infiltrated the world to the point where they use the ‘it’s not as bad as murder’ excuse to justify their actions and wave off their wrongdoings. But dishonesty is still a sin that can cause great pain, and it’s better to remain true and learn to be accountable for our own words and actions. If we’re having trouble, we can offer this prayer of truth and honesty to the Lord, and He will guide us always.
