In goodness, there is evil, in the darkness, there is light. Both co-exist in the world we live in, always testing our faith and might. No matter the darkness that surrounds us, always turn to what is good and right. We are not alone in this journey, the Lord is with us in this fight.
Do we often doubt our skills and capabilities, leading us to close many doors of opportunities? Do we often see ourselves, our bodies, and our opinions negatively? Do harsh words, negative feedback, failures, and insecurities hinder our confidence and peace of mind? If so, find a comfortable position, take a deep breath in, and slowly breathe out as we offer this prayer for positive thinking to God. Clear the mind of any negative thoughts and focus only on Him and His love for us.
Prayer for negative thoughts
Lord God, my Rock, and Anchor,
I praise Your glory and magnificence. You have the most powerful hand, yet it is ever gentle. You have all-seeing eyes, yet You are patient and forgiving. I am just another sinner in this world, yet throughout my life, You blessed me with treasures worth more than a king’s fortune.
I have stumbled and am unworthy of Your grace. I bare my sins and lay down my guilt at Your feet, begging for redemption and freedom from sin. Save me from the consequences of my guilt and help me build myself into a better Christian, inspiring others to follow the path of faithfulness.
I pray for peace of mind and positivity in my life. Lord God, You’ve seen my suffering and sadness. Rescue me from my misery and assure me of Your plans. I may be in a tough spot right now, but I know that You will never leave me, even in my darkest days. I place my trust and faith in the palm of Your hand, knowing all will be well. With this prayer for removing negativity, I also pray for others who suffer from negative thoughts and mental illnesses. May You give them many ways to see the beauty in life and many reasons why it is worth cherishing and living.
All these I ask in Your Most Holy Name.
Amen.
Short prayer to remove negative thoughts

Kind and Loving Lord, I lay down my troubles before You. Free me from my poisoned mind and wash away all the negative thoughts that are drowning me. Fill me with hope, confidence, and light. May my thoughts and actions be fueled by positivity and kindness. Help me learn to love myself, my neighbors, my job, and even my enemies. May Your grace shine down upon me forevermore. Amen.

Intercessory prayer to Saint Philip Neri
Saint Philip Neri,
Thank you for becoming a way for the Almighty God to deliver joy and happiness into the world. You’ve touched the hearts of many by delivering blessings of positivity and light into their lives. You saved them from the misery of their problems, bringing them before our Creator, who renewed their faith and spirit. I am no different from them, and I humbly call upon you to soothe my weary soul and troubled mind.
The Lord blessed me generously with all the true and meaningful riches of life: family, friends, love, sustenance, passion, success, and the beauty of the world around me. Yet amidst these wondrous blessings, I find myself still unhappy and plagued with negative thoughts that follow me everywhere. I know that the Lord made me complete and capable of life’s trials, but I cannot help but doubt myself and my worthiness. Oftentimes, I find myself lost in a sea of ‘what-ifs’ and ‘I-should-haves’. My mind conjures up the worst possible outcomes of my actions, leaving me restless throughout many nights.
Hear my prayer to remove negative thoughts. Help me vanquish the demons that make me overthink my current situation. Saint Philip, hear my plea and join me in calling to the Lord for His mercy and aid. May He wipe away all negative thoughts that threaten to extinguish my light and dull my sparkle. Saint Philip, reassure me that I am not alone, and that all my problems will pass. Teach me to have faith in God and myself, to always remember that He is working behind the scenes and will soon reveal the rewards I’ve earned for all my hard work and perseverance.
Take away these negative thoughts that bring nothing but misery, sadness, and fear into my life, hindering me from living it to the fullest. Help me let go of the chains that hold me back from acknowledging my full potential and chasing my dreams. May He send you to watch over me and help me free myself from the chains that limit my growth. I know my deepest doubts and biggest fears are no match for the faith I have in the Lord Jesus Christ, who rose from the grave to save me from my sins. The Lord is gracious and His mercy is everlasting. May He be with me always.
These chains have held me grounded for too long, and now I wish to spread my wings.
Saint Philip, vessel of happiness and bringer of joy, pray for me. Amen.
Further reflection
There are different ways through which we can cope with negative thoughts and feelings. Reading the Bible is the most important one: after all, it is a book of truth and hope, a chronicle of God’s enduring love and the promise of salvation from sin and despair. When we read the Bible, we find many stories where God’s people were faced by negativity before they accomplished something great. No one believed that David, who was much smaller than Goliath, would be able to defeat him, and yet he accomplished it through the Lord. Similarly, we can conquer our fears and troubles by having faith in Him.
Secondly, we can write down our thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a journal. We can also take up hobbies, both new and old, like working out, painting, or playing the piano. While these things do not directly nor immediately set us free from negativity, they help us push away unwanted thoughts and encourage us to focus on something relaxing, productive, and entertaining.
Always remember that talking to someone we trust is so important; never bottle up thoughts or emotions because that only makes everything worse. There are always kind listening ears, we just have to look for them.
Take a deep breath and exhale the negativities. The Lord is with us, so never fear.
Father I thank you for all you have done in my life ….I give my soul to you holy work..make use of it for your glory …
